Classroom Information
Snack
We will have an afternoon snack everyday in kindergarten. You should send a healthy snack with your child each day. You can also send in healthy snack donations for kids who do not have snacks.
Monday Folders
Student folders will go home every Monday. The folders contain all school and classroom information that needs to go home. Please make it a habit to check your child’s backpack every Monday for the folder and any papers that need to be signed and returned to school. Please send the folder back to school with your child on Tuesday.

Volunteering
Parent volunteers are an important part of our classroom! But please note that we will not have volunteers for the first 6 to 10 weeks to school. The first few weeks are a crucial time in kindergarten. During this time we build our classroom community, the children learn the routines of our classroom, and they acclimate to being without their families during the school day. I will notify you when we are ready to have volunteers!
If you think you might be interested in volunteering during the year you will need to fill out a form for a basic background check. This is a measure to ensure the safety of all. To do this, you can go to the TCAPS website at www.tcaps.net, click on the ‘For Parents’ link. Scroll down to the ‘current families’ section, select ‘Volunteering’. Scroll down the web page to the section titled “TCAPS School-Based Volunteer Information Form”. Fill this out and click submit.
Birthdays
We celebrate birthdays in kindergarten with a birthday book. On your child's birthday, he or she can bring in a copy of his or her favorite book. I will read the book to the class and sing Happy Birthday to your child. We will keep the book in the classroom in a special "birthday book box" until the end of the school year.
Your child will also get to wear a birthday crown for the day and will get a special birthday sticker. We will also sing happy birthday to your child!
If your child has a summer birthday, we will celebrate in the spring.
